Belgian Bankers Academy (BBA) is a non-profit association incorporated under Belgian law. BBA strongly contributes to the development of the banking, financial and insurance sector, including the micro finance sector, in Belgium and internationally.
BBA was established in 1997 by the Belgian Banker’s Association (now Febelfin) to serve its international and non-member clients. Since 2006, BBA entered into a strategic partnership with the Participation Fund, the leading Belgian federal financial institution specialized in SME financing - the reference in terms of SME credit policy - and the national microcredit market leader.
BBA is based on a solid structure which is managed by its CEO, Frédéric LERNOUX, and mobilizes the expertise of more than 300 Belgian and international experts, operating as independents or as senior managers of Belgian banks, who contribute each within their domain of competence to the projects that BBA implements. Because of the diversity and high quality of expertise on which BBA can relay, it can submit technical proposals with a high added value that largely meet the specific needs of each beneficiary. On top of this, BBA benefits of the profound experience of the Participation Fund when BBA collaborates in projects aiming to create (financial) tools to promote the establishment and development of Micro-, Small- and Middle-sized Enterprises (financing the missing middle) as well as its management.
The BBA activities are divided into 3 business lines: Audit and Consultancy; Training; Simulations
Belgian Bankers Academy can offer an in-depth screening of your organization covering the full gamut of banking operations and functions. Once the audit is conducted, Belgian Bankers Academy can provide customized services and advice on financial and banking activities and products, as well as supply didactic and technical assistance in the development of training programs.
Depending on the client’s requirements, BBA’s assignment will be limited to straightforward consultancy with regard to the different aspects eligible for improvement or adjustment, or it will include training services as well.
BBA operates as a change management partner assisting in the institution’s main conversion processes.
Belgian Bankers Academy organizes training sessions dealing with developments in the financial services industry, the ever-evolving business environment and the development of new products. BBA offers a variety of trainings, in the form of classroom seminars, workshops and academic lectures, covering the full range of operations, technologies and functions in the banking and financial industry.
Belgian Bankers Academy has a vast experience in setting up bank training institutes and giving them support through institutional capacity building.
Belgian Bankers Academy is especially renowned for its banking simulations. These simulation programmes combine theoretical lectures with hands-on practical exercises in a virtual economic environment, linking both concepts and simulations to everyday practice.
BBA offers four different types of simulations depending on the situation or the client’s specific needs:
Belgian Bankers Academy is a solid, well-organized agency that employs the expertise of more than 300 Belgian and international experts that work as freelance consultants or senior managers in Belgian banks, Central Banks, Bank Training Institutions, Insurance Companies and Financial Supervisory Authorities, They are selected on the basis of their specific field of expertise.
As a result of both this diversity and high level of expertise, BBA is able to implement technical solutions that make a significant difference and cater to the specific needs of each of its clients.
