Technical Assistance to Support a Microfinance Institution to Develop a Three-Year Business Plan

Belgian Bankers Academy was selected to develop a three-year business plan for Goshen Finance PLC - a Rwandan Microfinance Institution that provides financial services such as credits and savings and non-financial services to the low- and medium-income households in Rwanda. It mostly serves small and medium business owners, women and youth cooperatives through business, personal, agriculture, mortgage, education, car and social loans.
The project included the following activities:
• Undertake a market assessment & analysis
• Identify the strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT Analysis technique) 
• Carry out a mapping exercise of MSMEs in their respective sectors, with a purpose of identifying potential clients and segment them
• Develop/design a comprehensive business plan taking account of the prevailing and projected market needs, 
• Recommend and propose different and appropriate financial products to respond to the identified needs in each segmented MSMEs
• Undertake the risk and needs capacity assessment, and recommend appropriate strategic actions for the organization change and mitigate risks
• Recommend the most efficient marketing strategy that could be adapted to create awareness of new financial products. Develop the scope of work for the development of marketing strategy
