Description
Context
The Côte d’Ivoire National Restructuring and Upgrading Programme, PNRMN, aims to prepare Ivorian industrial enterprises to compete at regional and international levels. Financed by the African Development Fund, ADF, it targets 120 high-growth-potential enterprises through structured technical and financial support.
BBA’s Mission
Under this programme, Belgian Bankers Academy, BBA, was commissioned to support 17 industrial enterprises operating in a range of sectors. The objective was to strengthen their competitiveness through a comprehensive strategic and operational assessment.
Assessment
The assessment was structured around four areas of analysis:
Technical, environmental and quality
Financial
Marketing and commercial
Organisational and human resources
Each area helped identify the strengths, weaknesses and specific improvement opportunities of each enterprise.
Upgrading Plans and Deliverables
Based on the findings, BBA developed a tailored upgrading plan for each enterprise, including:
Concrete actions to improve productivity and organisation
Recommendations relating to environmental performance, innovation and market positioning
Strategies for accessing regional and international markets
To support access to finance, BBA also prepared a comprehensive business plan for each enterprise, covering:
Required tangible and intangible investments
Financial projections
Supporting materials for donors and credit institutions
The assignment concluded with feedback workshops involving company managers, presenting the priority recommendations and operational roadmaps.
BBA’s Role
Belgian Bankers Academy, BBA, played a central role in the project by mobilising a multidisciplinary team of experts in strategy, finance, marketing and industrial engineering. Its work was structured around four key areas:
Comprehensive strategic assessment: technical, financial, commercial and human resources analysis of the 17 enterprises, based on data collection and in-depth interviews with their managers.
Development of tailored upgrading plans: definition of concrete actions to improve productivity, competitiveness and compliance with environmental and technological standards.
Preparation of bankable business plans: financial modelling, identification of required investments and support for enterprises in mobilising financing.
Support to company managers: facilitation of feedback workshops, transfer of expertise and assistance with the implementation of recommendations.
Through this structured support, the enterprises received comprehensive assessments, operational roadmaps and financing dossiers aligned with donor requirements.
