Description

The European Investment Bank’s Green Gateway programme aims to support the greening of financial systems and strengthen the capacity of financial sector stakeholders to integrate climate considerations into their policies, tools and practices.

The programme primarily targets central banks, supervisory authorities and financial institutions. It promotes the integration of green finance, climate risk management and the development of green lending portfolios.

Implemented across several partner countries, the programme combines assessments, regulatory support, capacity building, the development of operational tools and assistance to financial institutions in designing sustainable financial products.

BBA’s Role

BBA contributes to technical assistance and capacity building under the Green Gateway programme.

Its involvement includes:

  • assessing needs and co-designing country support packages
  • planning and coordinating activities
  • strengthening the capacity of financial sector stakeholders
  • providing technical assistance to central banks
  • advising financial institutions on green portfolios and green lending instruments
